A large glass of iced tea helps you get through even the hottest days of the year – and provides a refreshingly cool boost in the summer. We show you how easy it is to make your own iced tea – and also reveal our favourite iced-tea variations!

Preparing cool tea – with no limits to creativity

Home-made, less sweet and doubly delicious: iced tea is a perfect thirst quencher in summer and a refreshing alternative to juice spritzers, lemonade and other fizzy drinks. Tea also has a rich variety of flavours. In addition to classic black and green tea, flavoured blends like herbal and fruit teas with natural flavours provide an ideal base for iced tea.

When it comes to preparation, there are no limits to creativity! Iced tea tastes delicious with all sorts of summery ingredients – for example fresh herbs, apple or elderberry juice, lemon or fresh berries. So be adventurous and try making the drink with your favourite fruits. To help you get started, here are some initial ideas about which ingredients go particularly well together.

Classic iced tea is made with black tea, which combines particularly well with citrus fruits. Add a dash of lemon or lime juice to give the tea an extra boost of freshness. Green tea goes perfectly with tropical fruits like mango, pineapple or a fresh piece of ginger.

Fruit teas combined with fruit juice are the ideal thirst quencher for children.

And last but not least, there’s herbal tea. This may sound surprising at first, but we are actually huge fans of this sophisticated iced-tea variety. Mixed with elderberry or apple juice, this iced tea is a truly invigorating experience for the taste buds.

Has this put you in the mood for some ice-cold refreshment? Here are some of our delicious recipes for inspiration!

Enjoy your refreshing summer iced tea!

Unser Tipp:

With iced tea, the name says all. To get the refreshing boost you need, you should brew the iced drink with three times the amount of tea you would normally use – and prepare it with an extra portion of ice. It’s best to cool the tea rapidly with ice cubes. This helps the tea to retain its characteristic aroma and stops any further steeping process.
