When the cold season arrives, there’s hardly anything cozier than curling up with a hot cup in a wintery atmosphere. If you’re looking for a festive drink alternative to mulled wine this Advent season, we have the perfect solution: Mulled Coffee!
What is Mulled Coffee?
Mulled Coffee combines the spicy, aromatic notes of mulled wine with the rich flavor of freshly brewed coffee. Aromatic coffee meets fruity orange and warm gingerbread spices – the ideal companion for cold winter days. Best of all, Mulled Coffee not only warms you up but also gives you a gentle caffeine boost.
How to Make Your Mulled Coffee
Ingredients for 1 cup:
- 200 ml filter coffee (e.g., Dallmayr Röstkunst Sigri Estate)
- 1 orange slice
- ½ tsp gingerbread spice (or alternatively: cinnamon, cardamom & cloves)
- 40 ml orange juice
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- Optional: 20 ml coffee liqueur (e.g., Dallmayr Espresso Liquore al Caffè)
Preparation:
- Brew the filter coffee directly with the orange slice and gingerbread spice in the filter.
- Warm the orange juice and dissolve the vanilla sugar in it.
- Pour the hot orange juice and, if desired, the coffee liqueur into the freshly brewed coffee and stir well.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to making Mulled Coffee.
Our Tip:
For a cozy evening treat without caffeine before bedtime, try making your Mulled Coffee with decaffeinated coffee. You’ll keep all the flavor, but without the caffeine.
