Green tea is much more than a drink – it has a tradition dating back thousands of years and plays an important role in many cultures. In Asia, it has always been a symbol of harmony – and who wouldn’t want more of that? For us at Dallmayr, enjoying green tea is a bit like travelling around the world: each cup tells its own story – from the tea gardens of India to the plantations of China. Here, we take you on a journey through our world of green tea.

The tradition of green tea at Dallmayr

At Dallmayr, tea has a long tradition. We began bringing fine teas to Munich from faraway markets at the end of the 19th century. Today, our range includes a wide selection – including many high-quality green teas that come from the world’s most renowned growing regions and which are selected with the greatest care. Here, every tea lover is sure to find their personal favourite.

Green-tea classics and special rarities: indulge in a variety of flavours

Whether you’re a true connoisseur or a curious beginner, Japan Sencha is an absolute must for anyone who loves classic green teas. After all, there’s a reason why it’s the most consumed tea in Japan. Incidentally, this exquisite tea was introduced to Japan from China – at the same time as Buddhism in the 6th century BC – and is still very popular today.

Our organic matcha is a finely ground powder that is becoming increasingly popular at the moment – not only as a tea for matcha latte, but also as an ingredient in smoothies and desserts. The intense flavour and vibrant green colour make it a true highlight for all the senses.

In addition to the classics, Dallmayr also offers an exceptional selection of green-tea rarities. Our Gran Cru Gyokuro, for example. Gyokuro – which poetically translates as “jade dew” – is one of Japan’s finest green teas. It grows under shade cloths made of reeds, which gives it a particularly intense and sweet aroma. A real treat for special moments.

Flavoured green teas: creative blends for every taste

Sun Salutation tea is a great choice for anyone who likes to try out new flavours and is a fan of intense citrus aromas. This flavoured green-tea blend with candied mango pieces, lemon peel and fine petals adds a burst of sunshine to your cup and ensures a sweet, fresh start to the day.

Our tip:

Use one level or slightly heaped teaspoon of green tea per cup – which you can then infuse up to three times, depending on the variety. The infusion time should be no longer than four minutes, and the water should not exceed 85 degrees Celsius. We wish you a delightful tea experience!
