The Dirty Matcha Latte is more than just a stylish caffeine kick – it brings together the best of both worlds in a single glass: the gentle sweetness and green freshness of matcha tea paired with the bold intensity of a strong espresso. Especially as an iced version, it's a refreshing treat for anyone torn between tea and coffee, or simply looking to try something new. The signature layering not only makes it a visual standout, but also a unique taste experience that bridges the gap between two worlds.
The name “Dirty” comes from the way the vibrant green matcha is darkened by the espresso – creating the signature layered look as the two components are poured together. In this recipe, we’ll show you how to make a Dirty Matcha Latte at home – using high-quality ingredients like Dallmayr Organic Matcha from Japan and freshly brewed espresso from your favorite Dallmayr roast.
Ingredients for 1 Glass of Dirty Matcha Latte
- 150 ml freshly prepared Dallmayr Organic Matcha
- 1 double espresso (e.g. Home Barista Caffè Crema Forte)
- 100 ml milk or plant-based alternative (e.g. oat, almond, or rice-coconut)
- Ice cubes
Step-by-Step Preparation
- Pour hot water over the matcha and whisk until creamy using a bamboo whisk or milk frother.
- Add ice cubes to a glass and pour in the cold milk or milk alternative.
- Slowly pour the whisked matcha over the milk.
- Finally, gently add the double espresso – creating the signature "dirty" look.

Our tip:
A splash of vanilla syrup makes the Dirty Matcha even more aromatic. For a perfect visual effect, pour the matcha and espresso over the back of a spoon – this creates the most beautiful layers.
